The author works as an editor — and occasionally, as a proofreader — in Southern California. He has worked as a proofreader for big advertising agencies, glossy magazines, online news operations, industrial manufacturers, and printers. He was educated at Brown.
He worked in the printing business for many years. His first job was in a print shop, cleaning and sorting metal type. At sixteen, he worked as a commercial layout artist. In his early twenties he worked as a typographer, first, spec’ing “cold type”; later, setting type with early, electronic prepress tools. A few years later, he became the senior manager of print operations for a manufacturer.
